A late-night stroll with his dog ended tragically for a Houston man, who was gunned down outside his apartment complex, police said. The fatal shooting occurred yesterday evening around 11 p.m. at the Co-Op Summer Street apartments near Studemont St. in Memorial Park.
Upon arrival, Houston Police Department officers discovered the victim, a man reported to only be in his 30s, with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Though the Houston Fire Department attempted to save the man's life, he was pronounced dead at the scene. "There's no word on a suspect but it appears this may have been a robbery," HPD Lt. JP Horelica told KHOU.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was identified as a resident of the complex. Details surrounding the incident remain scarce as officials reported no witnesses immediately coming forward. Authorities have yet to determine what exactly led to the shooting, and the whereabouts or condition of the man's dog was not specified.
Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the area to gather clues. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to quickly come forward.
