A Houston altercation between a mother and her adult son escalated into violence early Saturday, with the mother allegedly shooting her son in the leg. The incident took place in the 9500 block of Fairland on the south side of Houston, authorities reported.

The dispute began over the son having wrecked his mother's car. During the argument, the mother claimed her son attacked her, prompting her to fire the weapon, according to FOX 26 Houston. Police were called to the scene around 4 a.m. and found the son with a gunshot wound, the son, was then transported to a local hospital for treatment.

While the investigation is ongoing, the Houston Police Department mentioned that the mother is cooperating with their inquiries. The son's condition following the shooting has not been publicly disclosed as of yet.
