
A suspect has been nabbed and charged in the murder of a man that took place last month in North Houston, authorities said.
Alex Martinez, 37, was charged with the murder of Henry Flores, 37, at 4411 North Shepherd Drive, on March 8, as per the Houston Police Department. The shooting occurred in a parking lot of an apartment complex, in broad daylight just after 10 a.m., where Flores was found severely wounded. Despite prompt medical attention and transport to a local hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics, Flores succumbed to his injuries.
According to a news release from the City of Houston, Martinez faces additional charges for aggravated assault of a family member, declarations filed in the 185th State District Court. In the wake of the incident, HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger proceeded with the probe that accumulated witness testimonies and scene evidence leading to Martinez's potential involvement.
The breakthrough came when Martinez was formally charged on April 4, following the extensive investigation. He was arrested the subsequent day and reportedly, confessed to his role in the shooting during the arrest process. Martinez's booking photo has been disseminated alongside the announcement of his capture.
Officials at the HPD have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting, nor the relationship between Martinez and Flores, leaving the community in search of answers.
