Two men have been slapped with capital murder charges for a Houston shooting that left a man dead last fall. Edward Felton Edmond, Jr., 29, and Lason Edmond, 22, cousins by blood, now await their fate in the 184th State District Court, as revealed in a recent update from the Houston Police Department.
The victim, 33-year-old Vandy Williams, III, was found shot at an apartment complex at 1333 Gears Road in the early morning hours of September 16, 2023. The Houston Fire Department paramedics rushed Williams to the hospital, but it was too late; he was pronounced dead soon after arriving, according to a news release from the City of Houston.
Detectives worked the case without a known motive or suspect at the time of the incident. However, the careful and ongoing investigation by Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective L. Lange of the HPD Homicide Division later pointed the finger at the Edmond cousins. While Edward was already cooling his heels on unrelated charges, Lason was nabbed by the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Louisiana State Police on February 27 and was extradited back to Harris County just a day ago. Their mugshots have been circulated in connection with the press release.
The Houston Police Department continues to dig for more information and encourages anyone with insider knowledge to step forward. Helpful citizens can contact the HPD Homicide Division or make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
