Houston police are actively probing a deadly incident that unfolded on U.S. Highway 90 early Sunday morning, claiming the life of an unidentified male pedestrian. The catastrophe took place near the 15500 block of the highway around 12:30 a.m., according to cityofhouston.news.

The tragic sequence of events began when the pedestrian, who was walking his dog along the roadway, was struck by a westbound black Nissan Altima. In a turn of cruel fate, the man was subsequently hit by a gray Kia Sorrento and a black Honda Accord. The drivers of all three vehicles cooperated with authorities, stayed on site, and were found not to have been impaired. They were questioned and subsequently released, as detailed by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer T. Johnson.

The dog, which miraculously survived the ordeal, was not struck. It was later taken into the care of the City of Houston BARC. Houston's emergency medical technicians arrived on scene but were unable to save the man, pronouncing him dead on the scene.

The identity of the victim is still in the process of being confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Houston police continue their investigation
