Local law enforcement cracked down on an alleged hotspot for illicit gambling in Texas, making headlines with a raid that dealt a blow to illegal game room operations. Officers with Constable Mark Herman's Office stormed into Smokey's Smoke and Vape in the Houston area, busting what they claim was an underground gambling den. The action, which unfolded on April 24, was fueled by community tips that highlighted suspicious activity at the 6300 block of Fallbrook Drive locale.
With the execution of the search warrant, officers hit pay dirt. The sting operation saw more than $5,200 in illegal gambling cash confiscated, along with dubious electronic gambling apparatuses hinting at the dark dealings within. In a statement obtained by Constable Herman's Facebook page, the bust didn't just net financial seizures. Raul Naranjo and Gilberto Alfonso, reportedly employees of the establishment, now face charges for possession of gambling device/equipment/paraphernalia, with bonds set at a modest $100 out of County Court 13.
