Chaos erupted on the quiet streets of Huntington Beach when a stolen vehicle chase crash-landed into a suburban evening, leading to a dramatic police pursuit. In a scene straight from a cops-and-robbers chase, HBPD patrol officers set their sights on a stolen vehicle on the night of April 2nd, after being tipped off to its presence near Hamilton Ave. and Brookhurst St. around 9:45 pm. A patrol officer spotted the car and tailed it discretely, waiting for backup to arrive before making a move, with aerial support from HB-1 hovering above.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department's Facebook post, the driver wasn't going down without a fight and bolted at the first sign of an enforcement stop which came to an abrupt end as the vehicle plowed into a parked car and curb, and left the car immobilized with the suspects fleeing on foot - splitting up in an attempt to throw the police off their trail. The aerial unit played a crucial role in the cat-and-mouse chase on the ground, coordinating with officers who eventually apprehended both suspects without further incident their escape plan was not as foolproof as they had hoped.

In the aftermath, the disabled car turned out to be more than just a stolen ride, it was a treasure trove of illicit goods. Inside, officers discovered a cache of burglary tools and a stash of stolen mail dating back to February, pilfered from the Villa Pacific Community, linking the suspects to a broader spree of theft and burglary.
The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Sean Enrique Palos from Long Beach and 30-year-old Yiselle Monique Breceda of Huntington Beach, were not novices to the criminal justice system, having bonded out from previous charges including residential burglary and a stolen vehicle pursuit – they had a predilection for grand theft auto, with their most recent joyride ending behind bars. Palos is now facing a slew of charges from evading with reckless driving to hit and run with property damage, and Breceda is charged with multiple counts of identity theft among other misdemeanors; they're both held at the Orange County Jail, bail set at a cool $150,000 each as stated by the official police report.
