
A grisly scene unfolded on the 405 Freeway near Culver City early Monday morning after a crash that left an infant dead and another young girl hospitalized, as reported by KTLA. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred on the northbound side near Sepulveda Boulevard, and the Howard Hughes Parkway exit around 4:30 a.m.
CHP officials found two minors, an infant believed to be around 5 or 6 months old dead in the roadway, and a girl, between the ages of 7 and 9 on the shoulder, suffering from minor injuries. Officer Diaz stated, "At the moment, it's unknown how those minors arrived onto the freeway," in a press conference. He continued, "This is where we're requesting the public's assistance."
Witnesses claimed to have seen a black sedan at the crash site at the time of the incident. The CHP is now appealing for public assistance, urging anyone with information about the vehicle to contact them at 323-644-9550. The cause of the crash, and whether the children were struck by vehicles on the freeway, remains a mystery at this stage of the investigation.

An advisory from CHP_LA_TRAFFIC confirmed that the SIGALERT issued for the area was eventually canceled, and all lanes were reopened by 9 a.m. The lane closures, announced just before 5:40 a.m. had caused, significant morning commute delays to drivers on the busy 405. Furthermore, CHP public information officers are slated to be available for interviews at the CHP West LA office at approximately 9:45 a.m. to provide additional details on the ongoing investigation.
