According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the hiker found himself in a difficult situation, stranded between Sullivan Fire Road and Rustic Creek in a remote area of the park. The LAFD ground and air units were dispatched at approximately 1:49 PM to the scene following an emergency call.
The rescue operation quickly unfolded as an LAFD helicopter managed to swiftly locate the injured man. A flight paramedic was lowered to provide immediate medical evaluation and to stabilize the hiker's condition. Despite the challenging terrain that disabled a simpler rescue, officials decided to carefully hoist the man aboard the helicopter, providing in-flight care as he was transported directly to an area hospital.
