
Tragedy struck late yesterday night when a juvenile male, 16, was fatally shot during what appeared to be a drug deal gone awry. The shooting occurred at an apartment complex on 7700 Corporate Drive in Houston, with officers discovering the teenager's body around 10:30 p.m. Not far from the scene, a second juvenile victim, also 16, was found with gunshot wounds at a nearby complex, as the Houston police reported.
Details of the night's harrowing events were provided by the HPD Homicide Division. According to City of Houston News, Sergeant M. Wilson and Detective A. Hernandez are leading the investigation. They shared that initially, the officers were responding to a robbery call before stumbling upon the grim scene. The first victim was unresponsive in the apartment walkway where the paramedics declared him dead.
The identity of the deceased awaits verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Meanwhile, the surviving teenager is undergoing treatment at a local hospital for his injuries. Houston Police disclosed that the young men were allegedly engaged in a narcotics transaction with a 19-year-old adult male.
It's unclear how the altercation unfolded, but the police indicated that the adult was assaulted and robbed by the teens. Following the assault, the man retrieved a firearm and opened fire, according to the preliminary investigation, hitting both juveniles. The adult shooter also ended up at the hospital with injuries sustained during the incident.
