A domestic violence call escalated into a full-blown weapons misconduct investigation last week after police responded to a scene that involved a heavily armed suspect in a local home.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department received reports late on the evening of April 18, when they were dispatched to a residence on the intersection of McCulloch Bay and McCulloch Blvd N. According to a press release, upon arrival, law enforcement had sighted the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Yordi Mulder, with multiple firearms, after which the situation dovetailed, precipitating the deployment of the department’s SWAT and Negotiator teams in an attempt to quell what could have erupted into violence.

In a statement made available through the department's website, Sergeant Kyle Ridgway explained that officers were initially able to engage the suspect but he somehow slipped through the containment, with communication lines eventually dropping and Mulder mysteriously vanishing from the residence — the subsequent check revealed that he had managed to elude the authorities.
