A brazen Lakeville man's bid to score big was cut short by the law, as he admitted to an armed robbery attempt of a Maplewood credit union, said U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger.
Jeron Marvin Lee Davis, 29, had thrown plans into gear on February 9, 2023, lying in wait outside the financial establishment in a nondescript black Chevrolet. The heist turned south when the would-be robber cornered the credit union manager, gun to the chest, only to learn he couldn't crack the vault solo. The frustrated bandit snatched the manager's wallet before peeling away in his getaway car, the U.S. Attorney's Office detailed.
His guilty plea to the attempted armed stick-up was entered before Judge Eric C. Tostrud at the U.S. District Court, bringing a close to his short-lived foray into bank robbery. The fallout from Davis's failed larceny includes the potential of hard time; his sentence hangs in the balance as the court deliberates, with the proceeding date yet to be marked on the calendar.
The case, which unfolded thanks to the legwork of the FBI and local Maplewood Police, saw Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan L. Sing pulling the prosecutorial strings, the justice department confirmed. The full narrative of Davis's crime and the law's response underscores, a stark reminder of desperation's dark turns and justice's unwavering pursuit.
