Lewisville Police and LISD Choices Team Up for No-Questions-Asked Medication Take-Back EventSource: Google Street View

In a collaborative effort to fight prescription drug abuse, the Lewisville Police Department has joined forces with the LISD Choices program for a medication take-back event. Scheduled for April 27th, locals can safely get rid of unwanted or outdated drugs, no questions asked.

The initiative is a response to the escalating issue of prescription medication misuse, which poses an ongoing threat to our communities. Notably, the free drop-off event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lewisville High School's parking lot, located at 1098 W. Main Street as announced on the Lewisville Police Department's Facebook page.

Organizers underscore the importance of such events, as they serve not only to prevent the abuse of prescription drugs but also to spotlight the broader issue of drug safety and its impact on public health. "Residents can rest assured their medications will be handled securely and disposed of properly," a representative of the Lewisville Police Department said.

However, participants are reminded that certain items will not be accepted, including syringes, sharp objects, or inhalers. Volunteers alongside police officers, will be on hand to collect the medications, which will then be forwarded to the Drug Enforcement Agency for safe destruction.
