Last night, Long Beach turned into a scene straight out of a cop drama with a stabbing and a shooting incident reported within hours of each other, officials said. The first incident was a stabbing on the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard, where a male victim self-transported to the hospital after discovering stab wounds to his upper body around 8:15 p.m. on April 10, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Despite his serious predicaments the stabbed man did not cooperate with law enforcement, leaving the authorities with scant details to work on—the suspect's identity and the reason behind the attack remain shrouded in mystery.
Literally adding insult to injury, a separate event unfurled just hours later when shots rang out in the 1000 block of Myrtle Avenue at 10:53 p.m., startling the quiet of an inhabited residence, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department. LBPD officers dashed to the location, only to find cold bullet casings as evidence and no victims, suggesting a shooter who fired and fled, once again leaving behind more questions than answers.
The residence, which was pierced by the sharp reports of gunfire, was luckily devoid of any casualties; however, the brazenness of the attack is of great concern— who the intended target was or what drove this apparent attempt at violence is currently unknown.
