
Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives are actively seeking public assistance in an animal cruelty case that left a local cat dead at the hands of a 27-year-old man. In a despicable act of violence, Rogelio Diaz was accused of forcefully killing a pet cat in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Lawndale, authorities said, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Diaz was arrested on April 11, 2024, with no bail set, after he was allegedly spotted on April 5, brutally swinging and striking a cat against a sidewalk until it succumbed to the injuries. The incident, which occurred near the 4900 block of Marine Avenue around 3:10 p.m., has now led investigators to believe that there could be to potentially uncover additional victims in this horrific case, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Diaz faces charges for torturing and killing a live animal and is scheduled to be arraigned on April 15 at the Torrance Courthouse. In an effort to cast a wider net for information, law enforcement officials are urging anyone with knowledge of Diaz's activities or other related incidents to step forward.
The department has provided multiple avenues for the community to share information, stressing anonymity for those who prefer it. "Anyone with information about Suspect Diaz or this incident are encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, South Los Angeles Station," one can read on their Facebook page.
