According to an announcement by Washington County, a special one-day collection event will be hosted on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mahtomedi Middle School, located at 8100 75th Street North. This initiative is designed to conveniently bring these essential services closer to local communities.
The county officials are encouraging folks to take advantage of the event, highlighting that safe disposal of materials like these not only clears space in homes but also protects the environment. Confidential document shredding is set to additionally be available, giving people the chance to securely declutter sensitive paperwork.
For those who can't make it to the event, the county has not left them to fend for themselves. The Environmental Center at 4039 Cottage Grove Drive in Woodbury offers a similar disposal service throughout the year. With opening hours on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can drop off their household hazardous waste, electronics, and recyclables at their convenience.
A unique feature of the center is its Free Product Room. Here, residents can browse shelves stocked with usable items such as paints, stains, automotive supplies, and household cleaners—bringing the entire lifecycle of products significantly full circle by promoting reuse.
