A knife-wielding man was arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to slash residents in a Phelan home, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported. Jesus Rosas, 26, is accused of assault with a deadly weapon among other charges, following a tense showdown.
Deputies swarmed the 12400 block of Golden View Street at approximately 6:08 pm responding to distress calls. Rosas, after menacing the occupants with a knife, encountered law enforcement and displayed violent resistance, employing not just the blade but also his body, kicking a deputy in the face during the arrest, as stated by the Sheriff's Department.
Rosas's confrontation with deputies led to additional charges for obstructing/resisting an executive officer and parole violation. The 26-year-old, who was on parole at the time of the incident, is now being held without bail at High Desert Detention Center as reported by a press release on the Sheriff's Department website.
The Sheriff-Coroner, Shannon D. Dicus, brought the case to public attention, while Deputy D. Waters spearheads the investigation. Anyone who has further information has been urged to come forward to aid the inquiry. This could be done anonymously through the We-Tip hotline or their website, stressing the department's commitment to community safety and due process.
