Violence erupted on a Long Beach boulevard late Saturday night when a man was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint, police said. The attack, which included a shooting that miraculously missed any human targets, occurred on the 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard around 9:48 p.m.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the male victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being struck with a firearm. The assailants, identified only as two male adults, demanded the victim's possessions before one suspect fired a shot. Although the bullet did not strike the victim, the ordeal left him with injuries to the upper body that were attended to by the Long Beach Fire Department at the scene. The report from the Long Beach Police Department states that "officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body."
The suspects made a quick exit before police arrived, leaving investigators to piece together the events of the near-fatal confrontation. Thankfully, no bystanders were harmed during the incident.
