A man was fatally struck by a vehicle earlier today at the intersection of James Jackson Parkway and Hightower Road, in a grim start to the day for Atlanta commuters.
Responding officers arrived at the scene around 7:10 a.m. to discover an unresponsive male lying in the roadway, as reported by the Atlanta Police Department in a press release. The unidentified pedestrian was rushed to hospital by Grady EMS only to be pronounced dead later on; meanwhile, the driver who hit the man remained at the location, assisting police officers with their inquiries into the tragic incident.
As the investigation unfolds, initial findings suggest that the vehicle was heading northbound when, fatefully, the victim entered its path, the driver made no immediate indication that speed was a contributing factor, in this particular case, and no charges have been mentioned pending further investigation, this according to officials.
