Maple Grove to Begin Hydrant Flushing in April, Officials Warn of Low Pressure, Discolored WaterSource: City of Maple Grove

Maple Grove residents should prepare for a disruption in their water service next month as the Public Works Department gears up for citywide hydrant flushing. The scheduled maintenance, set to kick off in mid-April, aims to keep the fire hydrants and water system in check.

Throughout the 7 to 10-day operation, locals may notice lower water pressure and some discolored water flowing from their faucets, the city warned in an alert. "The discoloration of water is temporary and does not indicate a problem with the water," officials informed residents. If brown water rears up, the city advises running the cold water tap until it's clear again and suggests holding off on laundry to avoid any unwelcome surprises in the rinse cycle.

According to the announcement from the City of Maple Grove, the flushing is scheduled during "regular working hours and some overnights," to minimize inconvenience for the community.

The city has expressed appreciation for residents' patience during the maintenance period and has offered an apology for the inevitable inconvenience, however minor. Anyone with concerns or in need of more information can get a hold of Maple Grove Public Works, they can be reached at 763-494-6370.
