Minnesotans can look forward to a bright start today with the National Weather Service forecasting sunny skies and a comfortable high of 55 degrees for Minneapolis. Light winds from the east-northeast are expected to settle in during the morning, providing a gentle touch to an otherwise serene day.
However, tonight's calm comes with a switch to cooler temps, slated to dip down around 33 degrees. Accompanying the evening is an east-southeast wind that's predicted to kick up to 10 mph, setting the stage for what will be a breezy weekend. Folks planning for Saturday should be prepared for sunny skies, but with wind gusts that could reach as high as 30 mph, it may not feel as warm as the forecasted 57 degrees.
The Weather Service is alerting residents to keep their umbrellas closed for Saturday night. Clouds are expected to gather, followed by a 50 percent chance of showers after 1:00 A.M. Breeziness continues to be the weekend’s hallmark with gusts possibly topping 35 mph. That same wind is poised to bring in a high chance of showers come Sunday, which will see a high near the cooler mark of 45 degrees and gusts as strong as 35 mph.
Rain appears to hold the stage through Monday, with showers likely mainly before 1:00 P.M. and a high of 49 degrees. While the chance of precipitation drops to 60 percent, residents are advised to stay weather-aware as they go about their day. Monday night paints a slightly drier picture, with just a 20 percent chance of showers before bedtime, and mostly cloudy skies set to embrace Minneapolis after dark, with a low of around 39 degrees.
The city will see a brief respite on Tuesday, with partly sunny conditions and a high creeping up to the more agreeable 57 degrees. The fair weather seems to hold into Wednesday, boasting a sunny day with a high of 66 degrees and only a slight chance of showers. The forecast for Thursday remains mostly sunny with temperatures hovering in the mid-60s, but residents should be on the lookout for a potential 20 percent chance of showers, as the breeze shifts to the north northwest.
