The Metropolitan Police are on the hunt for a suspect linked to a brazen carjacking in Southeast D.C. last fall, with officials seeking the public's aid to track down the perpetrator. According to the MPD's press release, the incident occurred on the night of September 11, 2023, when an individual was caught off guard as they unloaded their car on the 2900 block of Erie Street, Southeast.
The victim, who has not been named, faced a harrowing ordeal when confronted by an armed suspect, who with gun in hand, demanded the keys to their possession, the authorities said the carjacker managed to escape in the victim's vehicle, prompting the police to issue a call to action inviting tips from anyone who might have information leading to the suspect's capture. The Carjacking Task Force of MPD took charge of the investigation, signaling a heightened response to a surge in such violent crimes across the district.
