The Metropolitan Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect involved in a misdemeanor sexual abuse incident after a report was filed this past Wednesday in Northwest Washington, D.C. According to a press release by the MPD, the alleged offense occurred in broad daylight at approximately 1 p.m. near the bustling intersection of Connecticut Avenue and L Street.

The suspect initially brushed up against the victim, a move which she dismissed as an accident after he issued an apology. It wasn't until the same suspect proceeded to quickly follow her into a store on the 1000 block of Connecticut Avenue that she recognized his intent. What seemed accidental at first glance proved otherwise when he violated her personal space for a second time.

A startled shout for him to stop was what it took for the perpetrator to escape the scene. The details shared by the MPD underscore the nature of the offense, but the identity of the suspect remains unknown as detectives from the Sex Assault Unit continue their investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone who might have information to come forward, hoping that additional eyewitnesses might lead to quickly apprehend the suspect.
