It's not every day that local law enforcement trades in handcuffs for handshakes, but Officer Magana of United Central Seventh Day Adventist's neighboring precinct did just that. On a sunny Thursday afternoon, community kids were given badges of a different kind as Magana took them on a tour of his squad car and walked them through the ABCs of personal safety and neighborhood watchfulness. The police department's outreach event, intended to foster stronger police-community ties, was brimming with inquisitive young minds eager to learn directly from one of their city's finest.
With an eye for engagement, Officer Magana didn't just lecture; he conversed with the youngsters, taking their questions seriously no matter how small. During the Q&A session, with the squad car parked nearby, the children gathered around, bombarding the officer with questions ranging from the workings of the siren to the daily life of a policeman. Magana, reported by the Police Department's Facebook page, answered each inquiry with patience that might rival the Dalai Lama.
The tour of the squad car became a highlight for the kids, touching buttons that blared the siren and flashed the lights – all under the watchful eye of Magana. The department's Facebook post expressed gratitude noting, "He conducted a Q&A session on safety and provided the community with a tour of the squad🚔. Thank you!"
