
A devastating multi-vehicle smash-up on the Ramona Expressway took the life of one driver and left multiple others with significant injuries, authorities said.
The pileup unfolded early Thursday morning when deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station were called to the intersection of Ramona Expressway and San Jacinto Avenue. Arriving at the chaotic scene at approximately 7:38 a.m., they discovered four wrecked cars and their injured occupants, all trapped within the twisted remnants of their vehicles. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Cal-Fire responders extricated the victims and provided emergency medical care.
Emergency crews declared one driver dead on the scene, while survivors were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their severe injuries. The accident prompted a shutdown of the Expressway between San Jacinto Avenue and Eagle Road, as the San Jacinto Traffic Reconstruction Team conducted an onsite investigation. The cause of the crash is still being determined and pending further review, the Riverside Sheriff's Department stated.
Details about the individuals involved in the tragic event have been withheld, as officials are pending notification of next of kin.
