
A tragic car accident in South Los Angeles claimed one life and left two others injured, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. The violent two-vehicle collision occurred on April 11th at approximately 9:30 PM near the intersection of Figueroa Street and Vermont Avenue. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find two people trapped in the wreckage of their cars, according to a LAFD alert.

Emergency personnel worked tirelessly using hydraulic rescue tools to pry apart the mangled vehicles and reach the victims. Despite their efforts, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The LAFD has not released names of the victims pending notification of next of kin. Two others, an approximately 20-year-old male in serious-to-critical condition and an approximately 5-year-old male in moderate condition, were transported to a local hospital by LAFD ambulance, as reported by the LAFD. The condition of an third individual was not specified in the alert.
LAPD is currently investigating the cause of the incident, recorded as LAPD Inc #5012, but details about what led to the crash have yet to be released.
