The Petaluma Police Department is on the lookout for a missing 13-year-old girl, Anna Joy Higgins, who vanished from her home in the early hours of Thursday morning, officials stated. According to a public alert, Anna was last seen after 2 a.m. and left without her cellphone, carrying a small duffel bag.
In what seems to be a distressing event for the local community, police have so far been unable to locate the young girl despite checking her known local hangouts and reaching out to bus companies for any sightings of someone matching her description. Anna Joy is described as a Hispanic female with black hair and hazel eyes, standing five feet six inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds. She was believed to be dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing, black sweatpants, and an unknown style of shoes. She was also wearing a cross necklace.
Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in finding Anna. The Petaluma Police Department has urged anyone with information to immediately contact local law enforcement or to call the Petaluma Police Department at 707 778-4372.
Additional information about the case was provided in a statement by Petaluma Police, wherein Lt. Matt Parnow mentioned, "Anna did not provide a destination, however, she left the residence with a small gym style duffel bag," urging the community's vigilance in reporting sightings or information that could lead to her safe return home.
