Philly's streets are about to get a major cleanup as street sweeping season kicks off, with the city urging residents to heed "No Parking" signs to make way for cleaning crews. Starting this spring, Philadelphians will see their neighborhoods tidied up each week, a routine set to last through November, as 6abc reported.

If you're a resident of the affected areas, be ready to move your car once a week, as the city targets streets littered with the remnants of everyday hustle. According to FOX 29, the street cleaners will be out in force from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, hitting different neighborhoods outside the confines of just Center City.

Mayor Cherelle Parker's administration is emphasizing expansion, aiming to extend the street sweeping to seven more neighborhoods on top of the original 14. Parker's ambition is to see Philadelphia crowned as the "cleanest big city," a pledge that's seeing traction as crews dive into parts of Strawberry Mansion, Logan, Kensington, and West Philadelphia, as WHYY noted.

Yet, while the initiative mirrors a renewed vigour for urban cleanliness, some locals have voiced their concerns over finding parking being an even tighter squeeze. Street sweeping will run from Monday to Thursday, excluding holidays, and as WHYY has reported, residents should double-check the times indicated on signs to avoid the inconvenience of moving their vehicles.
