Plano Police to Host Mental Health Resource Seminar in May, Offering Education and SupportSource: Google Street View

Plano's finest are stepping up to tackle mental health issues head-on with a resource-packed seminar slated for later this May. The Plano Police Department will host its bi-annual Mental Health Resource Awareness Program (M-RAP) on May 21, aiming to connect community members with vital information on local services for individuals grappling with mental health diagnoses.

Available to the public, this event calls for registration due to the limited availability of spaces. The Plano Police Department's Crisis Intervention Team will kick off the program, shedding light on the intersection of law enforcement and mental health care, while tackling the issue of safety and conflict de-escalation head-on. According to the Plano Texas Police Department, attendees can also expect insight into the mental health commitment process, presented by Collin County Probate Court Judge Sarah Duff. Additionally, Danielle Sneed from Lifepath Systems will brief participants on behavioral health services available to Collin County residents.

The spotlight also shines on NAMI North Texas, which will discuss the advocacy, education, and support they provide to the community at no charge. This effort is not just a chance to get informed – behavioral health professionals can take advantage of the four Continued Education Units offered through the program.

The seminar is earmarked for the second-floor community room of the Chief Gregory W. Rushin Police Substation, located at 4640 McDermott Rd. in Plano, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. To secure a spot, interested parties should hit up the online registration form.
