Authorities are on the lookout for a man accused of sexually abusing a woman on 3rd Street, Northeast in Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department's Sexual Assault Unit has turned to the public for assistance after the incident occurred early Wednesday morning.

The victim, a female whose identity has not been disclosed, encountered the suspect around 5:13 a.m. on April 17. According to a statement obtained by the Metropolitan Police Department, the man allegedly pushed her against a wall and then proceeded to initiate unwanted sexual contact before fleeing the area. This disturbing act of aggression has prompted a city-wide search for the perpetrator.

Officials have shared a brief description of the suspect in hopes that witnesses or individuals with knowledge of his whereabouts will come forward. He is described as a male, standing between 5'10" and 6'0" with a thin build, his race is unknown. During the attack, he was dressed in a black hoody – the hood cinched tightly around his face – along with gray pants, and knitted mittens.
