Richardson Trash Bash Canceled Amid Severe Weather Concerns, Rescheduling Efforts UnderwaySource: Google Street View

The community's effort to tidy up has hit a weather snag. The Richardson Trash Bash, originally set for April 20, has been canceled due to a severe weather forecast, leaving eco-warriors with their trash bags at the ready but no place to rally. The decision was made to ensure the safety of participants and volunteers during the hazardous weather conditions, according to the City of Richardson, Texas.

All Trash Bash activities, including the electronics recycling and document shredding event at Richardson Square Mall, have been scrapped with no plan to reschedule, as per the Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (RCPAAA). The association, however, is aiming to organize a collection event sometime in the fall, details of which are, still up in the air.

For those looking to dispose of their used cooking oil and grease, they will have another chance. The First United Methodist Church Richardson is looking to reschedule their collection for a later date. Other events that were in the lineup for the original Trash Bash day won't see a raincheck.

Community groups who have previously picked up their cleanup kits – trash bags, gloves, and litter tongs – are encouraged to engage in their litter pickups when the skies clear. They can then report back their good deeds to the Health Department.
