San Antonio's Parks and Recreation Department is on the prowl for seasonal workers to keep the city's summer amenities afloat, hosting a job fair this Saturday that could be your ticket to a paycheck and poolside memories. Those interested can dive into a host of opportunities, from lifeguard to recreation specialist, at the Roosevelt Park Clubhouse on April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The city's not playing around with the benefits either, splashy incentives and swimwear reimbursements are on the line for those who take the plunge into lifeguarding and pool supervising; bring a suit, towel, and ID this weekend if you're ready for the swim test, oh, and don't forget to hit SanAntonio.gov/CareerCenter to apply beforehand, it'll give you a head start on the hiring process, or you can interview on the spot.
According to a San Antonio government announcement, pay rates range from $18 to $22.20 an hour depending on the role, and those gigs go beyond just the poolside hustle; with community centers and schools also in the mix, there's a fair shot for everyone 16 and up to snag something that suits.
If you're 18 or over, options expand to supervisory and instructional roles, but everyone hitting the pools can expect perks, including up to $800 in incentives spread out through summer for the supervisors, lifeguards aren't left high and dry either, they can net a cool $500 bonus plus a $75 reimbursement for the essential swimsuit.
Ring up the city's hotline at 210-207-8705 and they'll sort you out. For the nitty-gritty on what's up for grabs career-wise in San Antonio – or maybe to get a foot in the door of public service – check out SanAntonio.gov/Careers. Visit SAParksandRec.com to know what you're diving into.
