A local San Antonio teenager was left fighting for his life after a drive-by shooter targeted his residence early Thursday morning. The 13-year-old was inside his home, on the northwest side of the city, when bullets pierced the walls of the living room around 6:30 a.m., according to the KENS5 report. Authorities arrived to find the boy with a gunshot wound in the back.
Despite the early hour, the sound of gunfire broke the morning calm as the perpetrator's vehicle unleashed multiple shots at the house nestled on N. Calaveras, near Woodlawn Lake. The teen was struck once during the hail of bullets while he was in the front living room, per police statements obtained by KENS5. Police have yet to provide a description of the suspect's vehicle, and the investigation continues to unfold.
Further detailing the events, FOX San Antonio reported that the boy was critically injured after the drive-by that occurred off North Calaveras near Interstate 10. The crime scene lies ominously close to the spot where a 60-year-old man was killed in a separate drive-by incident shortly after escorting his wife to work.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Details remain scarce. Rapid response from emergency services led to the boy being rushed to the hospital, where his condition remains critical, according to both sources.
