High waters and swift currents were no match for the San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team as they launched a daring rescue to save a lone hiker and his two faithful dogs on Saturday, March 30. The hiker, who found himself stranded in the treacherous Heaton Flats area, was spotted by deputies who searched and located the trio in peril, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department by the rescue team, the joint efforts of San Dimas Mountain Search and Rescue, Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team, and SEB Air Rescue 5 turned the tide, in the face of looming disaster. The rescuers deployed in a brief interlude of good weather, enabling the helicopter to reach the stranded individuals. A powerful current and, high water levels hampered the rescue operation but did not deter the team.
