San Dimas Traffic Stop Uncovers 40 Pounds of Meth, Unlicensed Driver Faces Drug Trafficking ChargesSource: Facebook/Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department

A routine traffic stop in San Dimas took a dramatic turn when a sheriff's deputy discovered a massive stash of drugs in a vehicle. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported that one of their deputies from the San Dimas Sheriff's Station initiated a stop after observing tinted windows and a broken taillight on April 10.

The stop quickly escalated after the driver, who admitted to being unlicensed, was detained. A consent search of the automobile led to an unexpected find. "The deputy observed two partially opened cardboard boxes in the rear seat of the vehicle containing a large amount of methamphetamine," according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The officer managed to not only to enforce traffic laws but to also potentially halt a significant drug deal in its tracks.

An estimated 40 pounds of methamphetamine was seized from the car, which is a hefty amount by any standard. The driver is now facing serious charges for the sales and transportation of methamphetamine.

San Dimas Sheriff's Station also posted about the discovery on their Official Facebook page, praising the deputy's "awesome work" and urging colleagues to "stay safe."
