Long Beach was rocked with a series of shootings late last night, resulting in two individuals injured and several more narrowly escaping harm. The city's police department reported four separate incidents, all of which occurred within a span of just over two hours.
The first incident took place at about 11:27 p.m. on April 5, when a female was driving near Baltic Avenue and West 20th Street. She heard what sounded like gunfire and later discovered her vehicle had been struck, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Although the woman was unharmed, the male juvenile suspects who allegedly fired at her remain at large.
Only minutes later, two men parked on Webster Avenue were confronted by two armed individuals who fired a gun in their direction before fleeing the scene. It was approximately 11:50 p.m., as per the police report. Thankfully, the victims were not struck by the gunfire, and the search for the perpetrators continues.
The violence didn't stop there, as a man was shot around 1:08 a.m. on East 4th Street following an altercation with a group inside a business premises. Stepping into the parking lot, the man was approached and ultimately shot by one of the suspects. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The suspects had vanished by the time the police arrived.
The final shooting occurred at 1:41 a.m. on Baltic Avenue, where a 16-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the lower body. Officers provided first aid until paramedics took over and transported the teen to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Details regarding the suspects or the motive behind the shooting are still under investigation.
