After more than three decades of commitment to Sherburne County, Diane Arnold, the current Auditor-Treasurer, is hanging up her calculator. Arnold's office announced her retirement on April 15, saying that after 34 years of service, she will retire effective July 9. Arnold, who has been in her elected position for 17 years, expressed her joy in serving the citizens of Sherburne County and cited a desire to spend more time with family and friends as her reason for leaving, as reported by Sherburne County.
Gregg Felber, Board Chair of Sherburne County, expressed the county's gratitude for Arnold's longstanding service saying, "We congratulate Diane on the culmination of an amazing career in service to Sherburne County, and its residents", according to Sherburne County. Felber lauded her leadership and acknowledged that her departure would leave a notable vacancy in the fabric of the county's administration.
The task of finding a successor now falls on the shoulders of the County Board. Minnesota law dictates the Board's responsibility to appoint an interim Auditor-Treasurer to serve until January 4, 2027, when Arnold's current term was set to expire.
