St. Louis Park residents eager to lace up their walking shoes and hit the trails can look forward to the "Walk the Park" event set for this coming Saturday, April 13. According to a bulletin from the City of St. Louis Park, the free event invites locals to gather from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the corner of West 16th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue South to embark upon a 1 to 2-mile stroll through Lamplighter Park.
The initiative, happening the second Saturday of every month, aims to foster community spirit and encourage residents to enjoy the scenic trail system around the park; however, Minnesota's unpredictable spring weather has a contingency plan in place, the event will shift to the halls of St. Louis Park Middle School, found at 2025 Texas Ave. S., so participants should gather at door 16 if it's raining, snowing, or temperatures drop below 40 degrees as outlined in the city’s announcement.
Looking ahead, the city's bulletin also details future walks, with a variety-packed lineup that promises to showcase various picturesque routes, next month's event on May 11 will take participants along the North Cedar Lake Regional Trail, followed by a walk through Westwood Hills Nature Center on June 8, and the pace continues through the summer with planned walks at Louisiana Oaks and Oak Hill parks on July 13, the Creekside Trail in August, and the blend of natural beauty at Bass Lake Preserve and the George Haun Trail come September.
The “Walk the Park” series is more than just exercise; it's a stepping stone for neighbors to connect, share in the simple communion of movement and conversation, to engage with their environment, all the walks are scheduled from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., promising a consistent slot for community interaction amidst the hum of daily life in St. Louis Park.
