According to a post in the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Jones contracted the virus while carrying out his duties with the North Patrol Division in Lake Worth.
Known for his dedication to public safety, Jones served the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years before his death, his career spanning a notable trajectory that included time as Chief of Police at the Double Oak Police Department, and positions at the Fort Worth Marshal’s Office and Lakeside Police Department his commitment evident in a life spent in uniform. "His legacy lives on, and we honor his sacrifice. His commitment to public safety and his selfless service will always be remembered," the statement from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office read.
Deputy Jones’s passing echoes a sober reality that continues to afflict those on the frontlines, even as the COVID-19 pandemic transitions into a state of endemicity.
