Tempe Hosts Free 'Music Under the Stars' Event with High School Bands, Professional Ensembles, and Fireworks FinaleSource: Google Street View

Tempe's night sky is about to get a lot more musical next Friday, as the city hosts Music Under the Stars at Tempe Diablo Stadium. The event, slated for April 26 from 7:30 to 9 p.m., promises an array of performances from high school bands across the Tempe Union High School District, with a mix of professional flavor courtesy of the Arizona Wind Symphony and The Academy.

For fans of live music, this isn't just another gig in a pub, it's a community experience under the starlight, complete with the merry strums of a mariachi and the tropical beats of steel drums starting at 7 p.m. for early birds, and, it's free. According to a statement from the city's website, the event builds an inclusive ambience where everyone can enjoy live music free of charge.

Concession stands and food trucks will be on hand to serve up some grub and drinks – adult beverages included, just don't forget your ID. As for the parking drama, there isn't any. It's gratis, too, with signage guiding visitors to "Music Under the Stars" dedicated spots.

As for the lineup, students from nine high school bands will jazz up the evening, including groups from Corona del Sol, Desert Vista, Marcos de Niza, McClintock, Mountain Pointe, and Tempe High. Joining them will be the melodic mastery of the Arizona Wind Symphony and the brass sounds of The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. To top it off, fireworks will paint the skies for a grand finale that promises to light up your night.

This sonic venture is a collaborative effort by Tempe Community Arts, the local high school district, and the aforementioned professional ensembles.
