Three young suspects are now in custody following a brazen robbery in Southeast D.C., the Metropolitan Police Department reported. On the evening of April 10, a pedestrian suffered a physical and financial assault by this juvenile trio on the historic Martin Luther King Jr Avenue. The three suspects, aged 16, 15, and 14, allegedly accosted the victim, knocked him to the ground, and proceeded to rob him before fleeing on foot.
Sources indicate that vigilant bystanders played a critical role in the suspects' swift apprehension. Directing officers to the juveniles' location, the police were able to facilitate their arrest shortly after the incident occurred. These individuals' identities were not disclosed by the police due to their juvenile status but they now face serious charges of robbery.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District detectives revealed that an intensive investigation led to charges being filed against the three young individuals. Representing neighborhoods as far-flung as Northeast D.C. and Landover, MD, the juvenile suspects' alleged actions have left a palpable tension in a community all too familiar with the specter of crime.
