A deadly sequence of events unfolded on a Houston road late Monday, as two vehicles were claimed by a brutal crash, according to authorities. The collision occurred around 9:35 p.m. at 6600 Synott Drive, in a wreck that left two men dead and a woman hospitalized, the Houston Police Department reported.

Amid the chaos, a white Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck operated by a 42-year-old man and a white Nissan Altima steered by a 47-year-old man were northbound when the Ram collided with the rear of the Nissan, said police. The Nissan veered off the road, slamming into a pole, while the Dodge swerved into oncoming traffic and smashed head-on into a gray Chevrolet Malibu.

The Houston Fire Department arrived at the scene to discover the grim reality: The driver of the Dodge and the driver of the Chevrolet, aged 66, had succumbed to the tragic encounter. The driver of the Nissan, a woman whose identity remained veiled as she battled for life, was rushed to a local hospital bearing injuries described as non-life threatening by officials.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has yet to verify the identities of the deceased males. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division's Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer D. Thompson are at the helm of the ongoing investigation.
