Tragedy struck Lynnwood as a deadly hit-and-run claimed the life of a 30-year-old, now identified as the victim of the March 19th mishap near a bustling intersection. Washington State Patrol is now turning to the public to quickly track down the perpetrator who left the scene, the public being called upon as a key ally in the urgent manhunt.
"We really rely on the public and you guys are the eyes and ears where we can't always be," Kelsey Harding, a spokesperson for the WSP, said in a statement obtained by KING5. Their plea for assistance has law enforcement urging local businesses to scour their security footage in case it caught the crucial moments or the suspect's escape route following the incident.
According to the same KING5 report, the WSP emphasized the importance of community vigilance and cooperation. They are appealing to any establishments proximate to State Route 99 or 148th Street, which encompass the thoroughfares in question, to meticulously inspect their surveillance videos for potential leads.
The WSP's call to action is not without specifics; Harding especially addressed businesses with a direct line of sight to the crime's locus. “Any businesses that face State Route 99 or 148th, or any of the arterials if you think that someone might've went by or you might have something, just check your cameras,” Harding told KING5. “We definitely need the public's help so we can solve these."
The fatal outcome of the crash, with the 30-year-old victim succumbing to injuries, has not only left a community mourning but also seeking justice. WSP continues to stress the urgency to bring closure to this tragic affair and holds firmly in the belief that with public's support, they can to swiftly apprehend the individual responsible for the hit-and-run.
