West Dallas Multipurpose Center was a hub of life-saving information and activities Saturday as it played host to the Safety Fiesta Community Resource Fair, in honor of Buckle Up for Life's (BUFL) 20th anniversary. Packed with nearly 20 local organizations and a slew of volunteers, the event aimed to arm families with knowledge and tools to prevent unintentional injuries and deaths among children – a leading cause in the community.

The fair, organized by the City of Dallas, BUFL, and Children's Health, sought to aggressively tackle this issue head-on by offering a full suite of safety resources all under one roof. From distributing fresh produce to conducting bike safety rodeos and car seat checks (the latter by appointment), the event was designed to ensure every family left better prepared to guard their loved ones against everyday risks.

The Safety Fiesta opened its doors at 9 a.m. and continued until 1 p.m. at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center, located at 2828 Fish Trap Rd. In keeping with the celebratory theme, attendees were also treated to free lunch courtesy of the event sponsors.

Highlighting the importance of such community-driven initiatives, a spokesperson for the City of Dallas – Office of Community Care emphasized the fair's objective was not merely to celebrate BUFL's 20 years of service but also to tangibly reduce preventable injuries among kids. "We aim to just equip parents and caregivers with the resources and knowledge they need," stated by the City of Dallas. The event stood as a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared commitment of Dallas organizations in bolstering the well-being of their community.
