Woodbury's Central Park is getting a facelift, and the whole shebang is expected to keep the backhoes and hard hats in business until the fall of 2025. Mayor Anne Burt spilled the beans on the grand plan to give this community staple a serious makeover. In a city council update, Burt explained the closure of the entire park area as it undergoes significant renovations, as per the City of Woodbury, Minnesota.

From April 1, locals waving goodbye to their beloved park, but it's not all bad news. The nearby Washington County's R.H. Stafford Library and the YMCA won't be pulling down their shutters; patrons can still hit the books and the treadmills via alternative routes. According to the mayor, a temporary door on the northwest side will serve as the new entrance for the literati of Woodbury, and the YMCA somehow remains untouched by the chaos. But, parking might get a little tight, so be prepared for a mini workout before your actual workout.

The sprucing up of Central Park is touted to touch on all the right spots. A statement from the mayor details the plan, which includes "increasing public gathering spaces in the park area, enclosing the amphitheater, and increasing parking and pedestrian access to the facility." Additionally, the cultural fabric of Woodbury is set for a weave with more areas for art and public art displays, not to mention a shiny new 12,000-square-foot multi-purpose space designed with social butterflies in mind, as reported by the  City of Woodbury, Minnesota.

For those in Woodbury who can't wait to see the final product, artist renderings, and more chatter on the upgrades are available on the project's webpage. With an open date penciled in for sometime in fall 2025, Mayor Burt's playing the role of a patient builder – expecting the same from the residents as they look forward to a smarter, sprightlier Central Park. "We appreciate your patience during construction as we work to enhance this wonderful community asset!" Burt affirmed.
