Wright County has found itself in the news cycle again after a busy week where the Sheriff’s Office had its hands full with a variety of arrests, ranging from controlled substance charges to domestic assault by strangulation. As per their report published on April 1st, a total of 31 individuals were arrested over the last week of March, establishing a clear reminder of the ongoing challenges that law enforcement faces every day. Among the arrested was Jason Scott Moksnes, 52, of Otsego, who was picked up in Buffalo on a warrant for violating a domestic abuse order for protection.
Not falling behind, a sting of DWI charges also peppered the blotter, with 10 DWI arrests being made, which included Nicholas Timothy Atzl, 30, of Monticello, nabbed for 5th Degree Controlled Substance, and Scott Allen Derro II, 32, of Otsego, taken in on a charge of 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct. The arrests were detailed alongside 18 property damage accidents, 3 personal injury accidents, 5 hit-and-run accidents, and 5 car-deer accidents, making it a tumultuous week for residents and law enforcement alike, as reported by the Wright County Sheriff's Office.
Among those arrested for domestic disturbances, Krista Lynn Sederberg, 42, of Waite Park, was held on two counts of domestic assault by strangulation. The Sheriff’s Office’s roundup also brought in several individuals on controlled substance allegations, such as Tyrmaine Exavier Butler, 42, of Delano, who faced domestic assault charges and interfering with emergency phone calls, and Sarah Ann Barger, 44, from Milwaukee WI, arrested in Chippewa Falls WI on a Wright County warrant for identity theft.
There was also a notable uptick in traffic violations with 136 miscellaneous traffic violations reported over the week. The number of traffic-related incidents highlighted the persistent issue of road safety in Wright County. Residents like Alan Jeffrey Shrode, 38, of Delano, didn't escape the legal net, arrested in Buffalo on a warrant for domestic assault. Another significant arrest was that of Jonah Michael Maddox, 38, of Cold Spring, who faced charges of 2nd Degree DWI and criminal vehicular operation causing great bodily harm, according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office provided details of arrests for underage consumption with six cases recorded. Wright County law enforcement’s effort to clamp down on offenses is clear, and the list goes on, including Brandon Douglas Thiel, 24, of Delano, held on a warrant for failure to drive with due care/speed greater than reasonable. As community members reckon with the ledger of infractions, the work of the Sheriff's Office stands as a stark ledger of the challenges of upholding order and the laws that underpin society's delicate balance.
