Tragedy struck the streets of Northwest D.C. once again, as police were called to the scene of a fatal shooting late Wednesday night. The gunfire, which interrupted the evening quiet around 10th and Spring Road, left one young man dead and another injured. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is now on the case, piecing together the scant evidence left in the wake of the violence.
When officers from the Fourth District responded to the call around 9:14 p.m., they discovered one victim with gunshot wounds that were deemed non-life-threatening at that time. The second victim, however, was less fortunate. After arriving at a local hospital under dire circumstances, he succumbed to his injuries. According to a press release on the Metropolitan Police Department's website, the deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Gee Chisley from Temple Hills, MD.
While detectives are actively investigating the shooting, details about what precipitated the event remain unknown.
