A Long Beach neighborhood is reeling after a woman was fatally shot on the sidewalk of Paramount Boulevard and 57th Street this past weekend. Brooklyn Mack, 20, was the young life cut short by a hail of gunfire late Saturday night. The incident was reported at approximately 10:07 p.m. after residents heard multiple gunshots, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department.
On arrival, first responders found Mack with wounds to her upper and lower body. Despite efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The statement noted that the suspect had fled in a vehicle before officers could intervene. KTLA described the suspect as at-large, with police yet to provide descriptions or motive for the shooting.
Homicide detectives are now working to piece together the circumstances leading to the tragic incident. An appeal has been made for witnesses, with detectives Ethan Shear and Chasen Contreras as the primary contacts, details of which are provided by Long Beach authorities.
