As we celebrate National Golf Day, it's worth highlighting a program that's driving veterans back into the swing of civilian life. Arlington Golf has stepped onto the green as an active participant in PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), a program designed to introduce golf to Veterans and Active Duty Military, with a special focus on enhancing their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.
Golf might seem like just a game, but for those who've served our nation, it's becoming a vital form of therapy and community. PGA HOPE sets up veterans with a developmental 6-8 week curriculum, under the watchful eyes of our PGA Professionals. These pros aren't just skilled in birdies and bogeys; they're trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency, making them a perfect fit for soldiers transitioning back to civilian life. Notably, all programs are fully funded by PGA REACH and supplemented by PGA Section Foundations, making the program completely free for veterans.
Avid golfers and those new to the course are welcome to take part, with the promise of not only refining their putting skills but also finding camaraderie and support among fellow participants. On the heels of National Golf Day, enthusiasts are reminded that the sport is more than a game; it's a potential lifeline for those who have served.
For any veterans looking to tee off into a new chapter, information about the program and upcoming sessions can be found at the Arlington Parks and Recreation. With National Golf Day behind us, the impact of Arlington’s commitment to our nation’s servicemen and women remains in full swing, proving the game’s reach extends far beyond the 18th hole.
