Earlier this week, a stolen bicycle led to the unraveling of a series of crimes in Benicia, as police arrested two individuals on different felony charges, the Benicia Police Department reported. The bizarre event started when a person visited the BPD lobby yesterday to file a report for their stolen bicycle. The situation escalated when the individual's spouse called, stating they had spotted two men with the bike. According to a Facebook post from the department, officers responded and arrested the male found possessing the bicycle after a swift investigation.

The second male at the scene was found to be carrying drugs. A subsequent search uncovered a vehicle nearby, packed with a tote bag containing his ID, two firearms, and parts for an additional weapon. This individual, who had three no-bail warrants from Tehama County for charges including a stolen vehicle, possession of the stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and prowling, was hauled off to county jail on multiple felony charges.

In a related but separate incident on the same day, another man, 66-year-old Daniel Arnold, was cited for possessing unlawful paraphernalia and displaying an unlawful vehicle registration, according to a report detailed on the Benicia Police Department's website. Arnold's arrest occurred earlier in the afternoon on the 6000 block of Goodyear Road before the discovery of the stolen bicycle and subsequent arrests.

Late afternoon, at the intersection of W 7th Street and Cheryl Drive, 37-year-old Jacob Donald Farias was arrested on sight. He faced a litany of charges, including possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in public under specific circumstances, possessing a firearm without a serial number, and possession of a firearm by a felon or addict.
